Living Room Re-Design: Moose Jaw, SK

Living Room Re-Design: Moose Jaw, SK

In our latest YouTube video, we took a deep dive into Nick’s listing in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. With an average daily rate (ADR) of $100 per night, his Airbnb has great potential, but the design needed a refresh to create a more inviting and memorable guest experience. Discover how we would transform his living room into a standout space!

First Impressions

At first glance, this living room feels a bit dark, with oversized furniture and minimal design elements. The space lacks texture, patterns, and warmth—key factors in making a short-term rental feel welcoming. Additionally, the patio features basic furniture, which didn’t add much to the overall appeal.

A well-designed living space should feel cozy, stylish, and functional, creating a strong first impression for guests. With that in mind, here’s our vision for a complete transformation.

Our Design Plan

1. Adding a Statement Mural

One of the biggest game-changers in this space would be the addition of a mural. A large, nature-inspired design on the blank wall will add depth and character while making the room feel larger. This type of feature creates a focal point and an Instagram-worthy moment for guests.

2. Mounting the TV & Adding a Fireplace

To enhance functionality and ambiance, we recommended mounting the TV and incorporating a fireplace. This not only frees up floor space but also creates a cozy and luxurious feel. Guests love a warm, inviting atmosphere, and a fireplace instantly adds that touch of comfort.

3. Introducing a Bold Paint Color

We selected Benjamin Moore’s Lafayette Green to tie everything together. This deep, rich color adds warmth and sophistication to the space while making it feel more high-end.

4. Smart Seating Choices: No Matching Sets!

One of the biggest mistakes we see in Airbnb design is the overuse of matching furniture sets. At Pink Wall Designs, we are firmly against matching sets! Instead, we opted for a carefully curated mix of seating options:

  • A dark gray couch as the anchor piece
  • Two burnt orange accent chairs to introduce a pop of color
  • Cream and black accent chairs to balance the design and add contrast

This mix of furniture creates a dynamic, layered look while ensuring maximum seating capacity for guests.

5. Layering in Texture & Lighting

To pull the space together, we suggested layering in additional design elements:

  • A large area rug to define the seating area and add coziness
  • A statement coffee table as a central anchor for the room
  • A striking light fixture to brighten the space and add interest

Why These Changes Work

  • Maximizes the small space by using strategic furniture placement
  • Enhances the guest experience with a stylish and inviting design
  • Creates a high-end feel with a mix of textures, colors, and statement pieces
  • Increases booking potential by making the listing stand out visually

The Final Vision

If Nick implements all these changes, his living room will transform from basic and underwhelming to a warm, inviting, and high-end space that appeals to guests.
